Purple is the colour associated with pancreatic cancer across the globe. The lighting up of buildings, landmarks and venues purple during November (Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month), and especially on World Pancreactic Cancer Day (the 3rd Thursday in November) is largely organised by individuals affected by the disease. The act of lighting up a focal point in a village, town or city symbolises for many a way to remember loved ones who have sadly died of the disease, as well as celebrate the lives of those that have survived, and also promotes discussion and awareness of the condition.
